With the end of this year marking our 26th
anniversary, we would like to briefly recap on the advancements seen in 2009, and to celebrate the continued development of our software. This achievement has only been made possible due to the loyalty of our customers, and we would like to thank you all for that.
So what did 2009 bring for Schott Systeme?
After investing considerable time in porting Pictures by PC across to Microsoft Vista in late 2008, we launched the Pictures by PC 3.4 32 and 64 bit versions for Windows Vista, and more recently Windows 7. This development subsequently provided us with an opportunity to introduce parallel
processing, making use of multiple core processors during CAM toolpath
calculations. With speed improvements of up to 60%, combined with many other new CAM related features, 2009 represented a big step forward for those
companies involved in machining.
The year also saw major new enhancements made to our hybrid mesh, surface and solid modelling suite. With customers having to handle ever more complex 3D models, these new features are now helping to make both the creation and modification of intricate 3D data far easier and considerably quicker.
As part of our ‘Business Graphics’ module used for the generation of product technical documentation, 2009 has seen the implementation of the 3D PDF format. Integrated into our linked PDF
projects, this is now providing customers with the ability to convert entire project information, including 3D designs, into a single portable document. Interestingly this field of graphics and documentation also sees the launch of our visual Stereo
output, ideal for interactive product presentations.
Most importantly, we do appreciate that 2009 was an extremely difficult year for all involved in design and manufacturing. This is why we are proud to retain our 12 year price
freeze, in addition to still offering free support with no maintenance
charges, which should alone aid our customers in remaining profitable.
We hope this continued philosophy has helped you all during 2009, and we wish you all success for 2010.
Best regards,
Schott Systeme GmbH
