Attending
this years AIEE 'Manufacturing Week' in Sydney - Australia, Schott Systeme
used the event to showcase for the first time their new 'Large
Assembly' modelling tools. Suitable
for both 3D mechanical design and facility management customers, the new
tools help to overcome many of the problems experienced with todays
parametric modelers, when handling assemblies containing extreme numbers
of components. In
short, a unique means of referencing
large 3D assemblies with minimal computing overhead has been developed,
helping users to more easily work with complex layouts. Schott Systeme
cite facility management as their best example, with customers typically
having to work with not just complete 3D machine assemblies, but several
instances of them. Other
developments in the pipeline will also
help with the smooth dynamic rotation of such extreme assemblies,
in addition to 3D model detail reduction to help speed up the creation of
2D layouts.
